Dukan Diet Slow Cooked Green Beans
One of my favorite comfort foods, at holidays or anytime really, is slow cooked green beans. Normally, cooking fresh green beans in chicken broth and fatty bacon on the stove for a few hours is the way to go. However, with a slight modification, I found that I could still have delicious green beans in the Cruise Phase on Protein/Vegetable days!
This recipe is loosey goosey and can be easily modified to satisfy your taste buds.
Ingredients
- One bag fresh green beans
- Medium white onion, diced
- 2 c chicken stock
- 5 slices low-fat turkey bacon
- 2 tbsp garlic salt
- 1 tbsp onion powder
- Pepper to taste
Directions
Clean and cut the green beans. Place all ingredients in a large pot on the stove, and put on medium heat. Once boiling, stir every minute for five minutes. Then cover and put on low heat. Let cook for three hours, stirring every half hour. Cook longer if needed or crank up the heat if you have less time. Add extra seasonings to taste.
Savor every bite!
